The objective of Caring in Craigmillar is simple: to provide services that prevent isolation and improves the quality of life for vulnerable older people with complex care needs in the local community. We offer a comfortable, non-stigmatised centre for older people to enjoy stimulating activities and the company of others in order to meet their needs, enabling them to maintain skills and encouraging community integration. We provide a range of advice, information and recreational activities and opportunities including trips and outings, centre based programmes such as Arts, Music and a range of stimulating activities which improve older people's social and mental well being.
We also operate our Phonelink service, this is a free service to residents living in the North East Edinburgh Locality, we give reassuring welfare check calls morning and evening to anyone who feels the need: the elderly, long term illness, disabled the lonely and isolated and those with special needs. It also serves as a reminder to older people with cognitive impairments to take their medication or remind them of an appointment.
