Befriending Volunteer

Would you like to make a real difference?  Do you think you could befriend someone? Can you spare up to 2 hours every week or fortnight?

Our Befriending Service offers support to unpaid carers by providing them with a one to one supported friendship. The role is flexible, allowing both the volunteer and carer to negotiate when and where, and how often, you will meet.  Befriending relationships are safe, reliable and enjoyable and offer purely social contact.  Befriending helps carers feel less isolated by bringing companionship, offering them an opportunity to relax and enjoy themselves.

You don't need special skills as we will give you training before you start and offer regular and ongoing support and supervision.  We welcome volunteer befrienders who have a warm positive manner, who are willing to spend time listening to, encouraging and giving support where necessary and have a commitment to the friendship.

If you can offer this we would be delighted to hear from you.
